Finding the right piece of equipment | Print |  E-mail

What a difference it makes!

We keep quite a variety of equipment in our rooms, a lot because it is needed by most clients at particular stages of their recovery. Other pieces we hold onto because when you need it, you just need it.

For instance, we have a slide board in rooms that most of our physios prefer to use. It's called a Banana Board - after all, it is slightly curved and bright yellow! And many of our patients have found it just right, too. So I have just spent time tracking down the original, so we can keep it in supply. So now, we can happily ensure that our current and future clients who are unable to stand can try out another way of transferring.

Off the track a little, it was interesting trying to source a supplier in Australia - so far, no luck! Search Banana Board on the internet, and you come up with skateboards, keyboards, a site associated with the Jamaican government, and an assortmrnt of health care suppliers. It was still difficult to find exactly what we were looking for - finally on page 7 or 8 I found it buried between online auction sites. It's true what my Mum used to say - to persevere is to succeed!

We've been keeping a secret!

Without even realising it, we've been doing something on the hush-hush!

We are open Saturday morning, with our neuro physios available to keep your program ticking along. This can be especially helpful for people who have other things to do during the week. Like work, or school. Or looking after the family.

Those who do know about our Saturday morning secret keep us pretty busy, but if you would like to benefit from this time slot, give us a call on 9803 7755, or contact us

Making sure we get it right

It's always a challenge to make sure our clients are getting the best service available, from best practice physiotherapy to effective and friendly reception. One way we do this is to ask our clients how we are doing, and how we could do better. The responses to our patient satisfaction survey are illuminating.

Results

50% of our patients ranked us 10/10 in satisfaction with our service.

88% of our patients rated us at 8/10 or higher.

Qualities our patients particularly liked were our professionalism (9 mentions), friendliness (12), care and attention (7), and the

Welcome to our new Physios | Print |  E-mail

We've had a busy year and have expanded our therapy staff. Welcome to Zhao Teoh, Leanne Tao, and Dina Pogrebnoy. As well as being great physios, these therapists share another attribute - they each speak a second (and sometimes third) language! Clients attending this practice are now able to communicate in Cantonese, Mandarin, Malaysian, and Russian. We also have a physio fluent in Spanish - Scott Edwards. Needless to say, it has been great for some of our clients to find a physio who can really communicate!

So if you have a specific language need, just let our reception staff know, and they will book an appointment with the appropriate physiotherapist

Kinesio tape update | Print |  E-mail

Kinesiotape has been used since the 1970s for sporting injuries - you may have seen Olympians, professional tennis palyers and cyclists among the many sportsmen with colourful tape adorning shoulders, knees and ankles. At the Neurological Rehabilitation Group we have been using Kinesio tape for 4 years to assist in managing changes in muscle activity, swelling and pain.

Two of our staff have just taken part in a training weekend with the Kinesiotaping Association. We found it really good to upgrade our skills and learn the most up to date techniques.

Some of the instances where Kinesio
